Broken Child Restored Woman

Barbara knew what it felt like to be a broken child. To be sick with guilt, worry, shame, fear, thoughts of suicide and wanting to kill her abuser. This ate at her very soul, she couldn't tell and she couldn't leave. Going to school every day weighted heavily but the one thing that Barbara wanted most of all was for her mother to have enough courage to leave and never return, only if this was possible. The pain and the scare were never seen in the eyes of others, but each day looking into the mirror she knew that the pain and scares would one day be no more. Barbara somehow learned to live with the abuse, and tolerated the pain, and protected her mother at all cost-even if she had to take the abuse herself
